GTA TeleGuam appoints EVP-Operations

January 25, 2018

GTA TeleGuam today announced the appointment of Lawrence P. Perez as executive vice president of operations.

The appointment is effective Feb. 22.

Perez was director of the Guam Department of Public Works before joining GTA TeleGuam.

In his new role, Perez will oversee GTA TeleGuam’s telephone network operations including installation and repair as well as network infrastructure.

He will report to Dan Moffat, president and CEO of GTA TeleGuam.

“GTA TeleGuam is very fortunate to be able to attract top local talent and leaders who can help shape the future communications in Guam’s fiercely competitive environment,” Moffat said.

“We look forward to Larry’s contributions through the next phase of telecommunications growth and expansion in Guam.”

Perez previously worked for Guam Telephone Authority from 1988 through 2004 and held various engineering and managerial positions over the 16-year period.

He was general manager of Guam Telephone Authority before Guam privatized the government-owned telephone company in January 2005.

“As a naturally interested observer, I am impressed with GTA TeleGuam’s success and momentum after it was freed to openly compete,” Perez said.

“GTA TeleGuam got a late start entering market segments like Internet access, wireless and television, which it was restricted from offering as a government entity.

“As an underdog competitor, GTA TeleGuam has made excellent progress in all these new market areas.

“This has meant better service and lower prices for Guam communications customers,” Perez said. “I am anxious to rejoin former colleagues, work side-by-side with them, and together help move GTA TeleGuam to the next level.”

Perez has bachelor’s degrees in both mechanical engineering and industrial (operations) management from Oregon Institute of Technology.

A lifelong resident of Guam, Perez and his wife, Agnes, have four children.
